No Man’s Land: It’s been a long time since I last watched the news, as it seems filled only with wars and disasters. Traumatized one evening by images from the war in Ukraine, I came to realize that humanity remains unchanged. For millennia, we have persisted in countless conflicts for the same old reasons: territorial, ethnic, the typical causes. A few years back, in response to these horrors, I chose to envision an alternative reality. I created an artwork named “No Man’s Land,” a place from my imagination free of vanity, a distinct backdrop. It was a realm I had dreamt of unconsciously and was eager to capture in art form. I later wrote a song, the opening lines of which read: “Some days I used to be in No Man’s Land, a silent place where no one invokes their dignity,” “Time escapes us, yet love remains in yesteryears,” “How can we love, can we practice empathy?”
